Definitive Figures Festival

Donna Costello and Jennifer Sargent conceive and produce Definitive Figures, Variation 1 in New Orleans

Donna and Jenny wanted to celebrate the many conversations they had about process, art forms, identity, female-ness and feminist ways of being, and what they were facing in their bodies and in the world at the time. There was an interest to not present their work, Jitterbug and the Aftermath, in isolation, but to create an opportunity for further conversations and to connect with other femme and female-identified artists through creative questioning. New Orleans was the perfect backdrop for this inaugural festival: a place that values community, art-making, and taking time to gather together.

Definitive Figures is a festival of performance and community events created to amplify the femme body in space and aims to elevate and explore feminist ideas while negotiating our plural identities of race, class, and sex in a patriarchal society. Variation 1, was held in New Orleans in 2018.
